Elon Musk Sells Multiple Homes in Los Angeles
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is making progress on his promise to “own no house” by selling several multi-million-dollar properties in Bel-Air. Developer Ardie Tavangarian, known for his sale of a $75 million megamansion last year, has agreed to purchase these properties through his company, Arya Group.
Musk, 49, has signed a letter of intent to sell the homes to Arya Chalon LLC, a new entity established by Tavangarian. Plans are underway to redevelop the properties into a unique single project, according to an Arya Group statement, though the sale price remains undisclosed.
The deal involves four homes Musk listed together in May for a total of $62.5 million. This collection includes a four-bedroom mansion on Chalon Road and three substantial houses on Somera Road, situated on the hillside above.
In mid-May, Musk placed over $100 million in California real estate on the market following a spontaneous announcement on Twitter about selling most of his possessions. “Don’t need cash,” he tweeted. “Devoting myself to Mars and Earth. Possessions just weigh you down.”
In the same month, Musk made headlines when SpaceX successfully launched NASA astronauts into space from U.S. soil for the first time in nearly a decade.
In addition to the $62.5 million deal, Musk has two other mansions listed on Chalon Road. One reportedly sold this month to Chinese billionaire William Ding for $29 million, while another, a historic white-shingle ranch that was once home to actor Gene Wilder, is still on the market for $9.5 million.
Musk also owns a historic 47-acre estate in Hillsborough, California, which he bought for $23.364 million and is now listing for $35 million. His fortune has surged to $51.7 billion, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the property sales.
Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
