Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate IV in Welding/Metal Fabrication or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience in truck and trailer repairs and maintenance is highly regarded
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Proven ability to multitask
Key Responsibilities:
- Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for fabrication
- Cut metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame-cutting torches, and metal-cutting machines
- Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, including heating and hammering techniques
- Align parts for joining using hand tools and measuring instruments
- Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting
- Inspect welds for precision, width of bead, and penetration quality
- Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and using acidic solutions
- Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiseling, and grinding
- Maintain and enhance the quality of trucks and trailers
- Install new body panels, rails, and corners on vehicles
- Produce handmade parts and weld various metals for connecting frames and components (steel and aluminum)
- Optimize brake systems by adjusting and replacing components
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication
- Navigate service trucks to job sites for onsite welding repairs
