About the Role:

We’re seeking a skilled Welding Inspector for our Dandenong manufacturing facility. In this key position, you will ensure welding quality meets industry standards by conducting thorough inspections and overseeing welding activities. Your expertise will support projects and ensure compliance with quality standards (AS/NZS 1554, EN ISO 15085) as well as Alstom’s HSE policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct visual inspections of welds.
  • Perform magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspections.
  • Supervise welding processes on the shop floor.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant welding quality standards.
  • Review welding quality documents (WPQR/WPS/NDT reports).
  • Assist in training and qualifying welders in our weld school.
  • Provide on-the-job support to welders, promoting best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as an International Welding Supervisor or Inspector (IWS/IWI) is preferred.
  • Formal EN9712 qualification for MT/PT NDT is required; UT NDT qualification is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes and the ability to read complex technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with AS/NZS and ISO welding symbols, as well as ISO 5817 and AS 1554.
  • Knowledge of EN ISO 15085, EN ISO 3834, and EN ISO 9606.
