Job Overview:
ActionAid Bangladesh is seeking a dedicated Officer for Community Based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to strengthen our initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health and well-being in vulnerable communities. This role involves working closely with community members, local partners, and mental health professionals to implement effective MHPSS programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Implementation: Lead the implementation of community-based MHPSS initiatives, ensuring they align with ActionAid’s mission and objectives.
- Community Engagement: Facilitate community awareness programs to reduce stigma around mental health issues and promote psychosocial support services.
- Training and Capacity Building: Conduct training sessions for community volunteers, healthcare workers, and local partners on MHPSS best practices and interventions.
- Assessment and Monitoring: Collaborate with the team to assess community mental health needs and monitor the effectiveness of MHPSS programs, making adjustments as necessary.
- Resource Development: Assist in the development of educational materials and resources related to mental health and psychosocial support.
- Collaboration: Work closely with local organizations, government bodies, and stakeholders to foster a supportive network for mental health initiatives.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of program activities, challenges, and successes, and contribute to reports for donors and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health and psychosocial support, preferably in community settings.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of MHPSS principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse teams and engage with community members.
- Proficient in data collection and analysis.
