Mohammad Shamim Ahmed, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara East Police Station, confirmed the incident and stated, “We rescued two severely injured individuals from the footbridge near BNS Center and admitted them to Kuwait-Maitree Hospital. Both are in critical condition.”
When asked about the motive behind the mob beating, the OC added, “Preliminary information suggests the injured individuals were caught by pedestrians while attempting to snatch valuables in the West Thana area. However, no specific victims or details of the snatching incident have been identified yet.”
